Making Homemade Liqueurs

Anisette

(Licorice Liqueur)
2 tablespoons crushed star anise
3 cups vodka
2 cups sugar
1 cup water

Combine crushed star anise and vodka in a jar. Cover tightly and let steep in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks. When steeping period is complete, strain and filter the liquid.

Combine sugar and water in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Resuce haeat and simmer until sugare has completely dissolved, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.

Combine sugare syrup and filtered vodka mixture. Pour into bottles and cap tightly. Let age at least one month before serving.
